Laci Dent is a filmmaker from New Orleans, Louisiana, however she has lived in multiple cities around the world including London, New York, Portland OR, Green Bay and Los Angeles. 

She received an M.F.A in directing and production from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television.

Laci currently works for Ava DuVernay and ARRAY, a grassroots film collective dedicated to the amplification of voices by women and people of color. 

In 2016 she received the Four Sisters Award in directing, screenwriting and animation established by Gina Prince- Bythewood and Mara Brock Akil at UCLA. She also won the audience award for best Louisiana short film of the Academy Award qualifying New Orleans Film Festival, with her short film "The Executioner."
