Laci Dent is a filmmaker from New Orleans, Louisiana, however she has lived in multiple cities around the world including London, New York, Portland OR, Green Bay and Los Angeles. 

She received a BA in English Literature and Film from Vassar College and an MFA in directing and production from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. She also completed course work at King’s College London, UK.

Laci currently works for Ava DuVernay and ARRAY, a grassroots film collective dedicated to the amplification of voices by women and people of color. 

In 2016 she received the Four Sisters Award in directing, screenwriting and animation established by Gina Prince- Bythewood and Mara Brock Akil at UCLA. She also won the audience award for best Louisiana short film of the Academy Award qualifying New Orleans Film Festival, with her short film "The Executioner." In 2019, she was an official photographer/videographer with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) at the Golden Globes.
